Dark and dingy, just how I like it.

Disclaimer-Captain DIY and highly recommend exercising extreme caution when attempting DIY projects. Not everybody can do everything, and some things should only be done by professionals. Keep your digits attached, and keep the insurance company off of your back. Do it right or call the right people!

Well folks, I’m back with another installment in the Fit to FI series, and we’re looking at building a major component of the strength-building, ground-crushing, shirt-sleeve-tearing Home Gym. Today we will be building a Power Rack.

This is an integral piece of any home gym worth its salt, and if you are planning on lifting anything heavier than your bag of groceries and calling it a workout I highly recommend this piece of equipment.

Sure, you could easily just hop on Amazon and buy one from the comfort of your porcelain throne, but wouldn’t it feel so much better to burst into your bastion of bodily brutality and gaze lovingly upon the fruits of your labor while you contemplate destroying a PR? (That’s Personal Record for you lifting n00bs)

I was planning on breaking down and rebuilding my power rack for the benefit of you readers, but in reality ain’t nobody got time for that. So I figured I would share with you the video that taught me how to do it. Git your learnin’ direct from the source.

There is a channel on Youtube called Buff Dudes, and they live up to their name. Not only do they have tons of great instructional videos from particular lifts all the way up to whole workout programs, they also occasionally feature their dad DIY Duke.

DIY Duke has a ton of amazing skills and ideas, and this one is probably the best of them all. Check out the video, give them a thumbs up if you like it, and let them know I sent you their way. For the record, we have no affiliation, but I did contact them to get their permission to share this. They graciously agreed, and here we are.

That’s right, you can even curl in your squat rack if you want.

As long as you have the basic tools listed in the Tools Every Homeowner Should Have guide, this project should be a piece of cake. And then once it’s built you will be able to crush that piece of cake into submission with your massive gains. I guess crushing a piece of cake isn’t all that impressive…
