Disclaimer-Captain DIY and DIYtoFI.blog highly recommend exercising extreme caution when attempting DIY projects. Not everybody can do everything, and some things should only be done by professionals. Keep your digits attached, and keep the insurance company off of your back. Do it right or call the right people!

Today we have a look at some serious DIYers in action. I came across this video on Youtube this morning about a guy who has made his own Powerbank out of used lithium ion batteries. He even uses them to power his car!

This is some dangerous stuff here, and I absolutely DO NOT recommend you try this. In fact, I won’t be trying it, as I’m not totally confident in my ability to not get blown up. I’ve seen the awesome power of electricity let loose, and it is scary as hell.

That being said, it was amazing to watch this guy as he solders a bunch of batteries together to create the electricity storage needs that allow him to travel 130 miles in his repurposed VW van. He has also built battery banks in his house and lives entirely off the grid in a Southern  California suburb.

This kind of innovation is central to the success of our society, and we as DIYers are at the forefront. There are many different groups of people online getting together to share ideas, and from this coagulation of knowledge comes amazing things.

This guy may very well be the next Elon Musk, and one of you out there may be right there with him. I highly recommend checking out the video, and maybe even expanding your knowledge by going a little deeper into the rabbit hole. DIY doesn’t have to just be refurbishing your house, it can be so much more.
